Moving Home

Written by Jean Shirley Otto:

In 2016 I moved home to live with Dad and help him enjoy a quality of life with dignity. I found that I had grabbed a 91-year-old tiger by the tail and hung on for dear life!! I had no idea what I was getting myself into! My life in Idaho was relatively quiet and mundane. However, now I was attending opera gala’s, hosting parties for military officials, family, and friends from all of the clubs and groups Dad was involved with. We had friends from France stay with us and students from the International House at UC Berkeley spending the weekend through an event with his Rotary Club. My world opened up and showed me the true character of my Dad. I have been so blessed to have learned about Dad in such a deep and meaningful way. By the Grace of God, my time with Dad answered so many questions that I had. I now feel at peace that he is with his Lord and Savior. Praise God for the energy, strength, and health to keep up with him!! Thanks Dad, for the ride of a lifetime! Rest in Peace and give Mom a big hug and kiss from me!
